Brahma Kamal

  // October 29, 2007 f/5.6, 1/200s, ISO 200 (more •)

Most Indians will relate to this situation. Brahma Kamal blooms only at night. And only once a year which makes it a bit auspicious. So for most people, this calls for a celebration. People are invited to watch the bloom. There is a lot of gossip revolving around the blooming of the flower. Some people go to the extent of claiming only lucky people get to see the process. I agree to an extent. Oly those people who believe in the auspiciousness of the occasion can see the blooming. Or those people who have the patience to sit up late to see and appreciate the really beautiful flower.

As you may have guessed, I am from the latter group. I just had to wait to see how this most beautiful bud can bloom into an even more beautiful flower which will last for just about a few hours before closing up again. The flower comes up in the next post.
