A1 at Sepang II
// November 22, 2005 f/11, 1/160s, ISO 100 (more •)This is the South African A1 car. I put this photo for some geeky tidbits. Just by looking at this photo and drinking some Google Gulp, can you roughly estimate the speed of the car? I'll give my version of the answer in the comments. Ofcourse, after you have tried.

the previous shot was better. This one seems a bit OOF? Or is it the reflection of the sun? I like the framing, gives a nice sense of motion.
200km/h? :)
About 320kms/hr?
320 kmph sounds a bit on the higher side Sam..... I'd guess somewhere between 150 and 220kph.... These are A1 cars not F1.... but then what do I know I just googled :P
BTW Nilesh you are a really inspiring person keep up the good work man I just might be able to convince the wife to let me buy an 8Mp DSLR someday!
With a peak of 550 bhp. Those A1s are more fun than F1. They are designed to encourage overtaking real close up.
Oh and they do touch 380 kph if I'm not mistaken.
Sorry guys, for the slack in the posting. BTW, here is the answer for the puzzle. The width of the white bar on the sheels give an indication of the length that the car has travelled in the duration of the shot, i.e. 1/160 seconds. Calculate using your geometry formulae and convert to kms per hour. There you are!
oops, I forgot to mention. You'll find the diameter of an A1 car wheel from Google. Enjoy!
Imtiaz, thanks for the nice words.
Flypig, AFAIK, the A1s are slower than F1 and hence more maneuverable. And ya, they have been designed to encourage overtaking in close quarters.
Thanks Nilesh for your useful inputs... but.. otherwise a good shot.. you managed to click it at a perfect time.
KO.... so when does the quiz end or can I get an answer on mail?! Hey this is a good idea....
1... guess wieght of guy eating pizza
2... guess shoe size of kids on snack stor
3... guess amount donated at temple from state of walls.....
might make the site a lot more exciting than it already is :D Go Nilesh go!
Can you post the technical details of this photo... The aperture reading, shutter speed and ISO of the pic and other details... Would help a learning amateur photographer a bit!!
Nair.
Nair, the information is there on the page. I think you missed it. :-)
