It is said that if you visit the land of five rivers, you will never leave without absorbing the essence of Punjab. How true! So what if you only pass through this prosperous land. These views are from a train bound for Jammu. The rising sun unhides the early birds at work in a brick kiln. Below is a temple near Pathankot with the bells ringing melodiously at sunrise.

Nilesh,
For a photo taken from a train, these are beaaaaaaaaaautiful.
cheers !
Very nice ... any idea where exactly are these... ?
I myself have been all over punjab in the last 7 days.
Hey dude,
Awesome stuff. Dont mean to take away from these really well-shot snaps, but can't help envying the quality of scans you are able to get. Seriously...is it 'coz you're shooting on slides? or is it 'coz of the scanning at Kodak's? What resolution (image size + dpi) do they give it to u at? I tried scanning couple of B&W recently at Kodak's and was little disappointed.
Once again, awesome snaps. I personally prefer the one on top. The onebelow -- I realise you were trying to get the entire tower's reflection in the water, but as a result of that the top part of the foto has very little breathing space (above the tower). Don't know if you tried a vertical shot...but that may have worked better.
Of course, that's my personal opinion. :-)
Cheers,
Param

AFAIR, they are places along the railway line an hour before Pathankot.
Param:is it 'coz you're shooting on slides
Yes & No. I mean, many of the earlier posted photos were on slides. Not the above ones. They are from the digital camera. Given that the train was moving at a slow pace, to capture such photos at the spur i becomes difficult to use your SLR from a train window. Hmmm... I need to consider differentiating posts between digital and film. As for the scanning, yes I do get my slides processed and scanned from Kodak's Q-Lab monitored outlets. I know only two - Mazda in Mumbai and Prabhu in Bangalore. They scan photos normally at 300 DPI for a 100 buck CD. Ofcourse you can have higher resolutions, like this one. I got it scannedat 2000 DPI and it cost me INR50 for each.
but that may have worked better.
Moving train!
Fantastic athmosphere and colors, very nice...
